What brings people here

Many people come to therapy unsure of which “box” they fit into, and the truth is, most experiences don’t fit neatly into one. Symptoms overlap. Stress in one area can show up in another. You might read through this list and recognise different pieces of yourself in several places. That’s completely normal.

What matters here isn’t the label.

It’s how you feel, what’s getting in the way of your life, and what you’re longing to change.

This section is here to help you understand your experiences in clear, human language , so you can feel less alone and get a sense of the kind of support available.

For each topic, you’ll find:

  • What it is (in clear, human language)

  • How it often feels day-to-day

  • A way to begin your journey

You don’t need everything figured out before reaching out.
You just need to start where you are.

Anxiety

Anxiety can show up as overthinking, physical tension, racing thoughts, or feeling on edge. It’s not “in your head”, it’s your nervous system working hard to protect you.

Nervous System Regulation

When your system gets stuck in survival mode (fight, flight, freeze, fawn), everyday life becomes overwhelming. Regulating the nervous system changes everything.

Self Esteem

Chronic self-doubt often comes from early experiences and nervous-system patterns that taught you to shrink or perform to stay safe.

Trauma & (c)PTSD

Trauma shapes both the brain and body. You don’t need a “big event” to be impacted, long-term stress, emotional neglect, or instability can leave deep imprints.

Low Mood

Low mood can feel heavy, foggy, or like you’re disconnected from yourself. Sometimes it looks quiet on the outside but feels loud internally.

Sickness Behaviour

Sickness behaviour is the body’s protective mode that happens when emotional or psychological stress has pushed your system too far.

Relationships

Patterns in relationships often come from old wounds, attachment styles, or nervous-system responses, and can make connection difficult.

Public Speaking

Fear of being seen is deeply physiological. Your body remembers what visibility meant in the past. We work with both the psychology and the nervous system to build steady, embodied confidence.

Body-Held Emotions

Body-held emotions are feelings your system couldn’t fully process.
They show up as pain, tightness, digestive sensitivity, a racing heart, or a sense of being “on alert”.
